Mr. Goodman

These were the first words that I wrote on the blackboard on the first day of my first class after someone decided to hire me as an English teacher. I said, my name is Mr. Goodman and I am your new English teacher.

Right from the start, I learned two things that were true. Firstly, everybody made the same exact grammar mistakes. The second thing was that nobody knew how to talk and this is what everybody wanted to learn.

So I did my homework. I came up with a few basic strategies of how to deal with these two problems. When the students immediately started showing improvement, I kept going.

My goal was for my students to understand the basics of English sentence making well enough that they had complete confidence that people would understand them when they spoke. After this, it was just a matter of solving a few logical problems of perception and overcoming that fear of speaking.

Now it’s 20 years later and I’m making the method available for people to do at home.

Welcome to practical English
